Take the time, watch this video.
4 minutes and 45 seconds of a CNN reporter running around interviewing a Lebanese civilian amidst the rubble of Beruit. Time and again showing civilian buildings damaged. And of course, the reporter, being the paragon of objective journalism that he must be, parrots after the interviewee, “…in civlian buildings.”
4 minutes and 45 seconds, and not one word about rocket attacks into Israel. The downtrodden civilian laments that they don’t have warships, they don’t have planes, just RPG’s and Kalishnikovs. Well, yeah, and increasingly sophisticated rockets. The one time the CNN reporter even get’s close to asking a probing question, its,” Oh! Another jet is coming, we must run!“
Apparently, as you suspected, these attacks are all Israel’s fault, Israeli started this, and has been attacking Lebanon since 1982, the proud Lebanese people will never surrender until Israel does, etc. Until Israel releases Lebanese “hostages” help in Israeli jails, and oh, uh, apparently all those thousands of Palestinian refugees it’s keeping under lock and key.
Quite the little promo for the valiant victims of Israeli agressions, courtesy of the Caliphate’s News Network.
Sheesh.
Interestingly, this video from the BBS directly contradicts the above downtrodden civilian’s (who by the way speaks remarkably good english) assertion that there where no Hezbollah any where near the targets struck, that it was all just people living and working.
The BBC reporter states, “This was the headquarter’s of Hezbollah, where I met with them many times in the past.”
Israel clearly knew where the HQ was, warned the people to get out, and the t-boned the place with an LGB (laser-guided bomb), just like they said they would. These are clearly precision strikes at established targets. There is collateral damage, but far less that it could be if Israel really were “indiscriminately” bombing.
This idea of proportional force is not only preposterous, but a recent fabrication of some PR moguls wet dream. No historical precedence whatsoever. You come at me with a knife, am I only allowed to bring a knife in return? Or do I pull out my S&W .40 Chief’s Special, and convince you what a BAD idea it is to come at me with a knife? You drop a couple of my skyscrapers? I redraw your fucking map.
A supposedly rational individual might eventually come to realize that a few Katushka Rockets into downtown anytown, Israel = 1 x 1,000 LGB somewhere in downtown Beruit. Do the math. Learn the lesson. And in case you missed it in all the fluff, let me remind you:
Israel did not attack Lebanon until after enduring numerous rocket attacks at the hands of Hezbollah. And after giving them numerous warning and opportunities to stop.
You know, Hezbollah is almost like a psycho girlfriend. She screams at you, kicks you, burns your clothes in the street, and after she finally comes at you with the butcher knife, she then calls the cops on you for clocking her a good one.
Hezbollah = They’re not evil, they’re co-dependent.
UPDATE:
Yup. Those evil, evil Israelis (video of rocket trucks parked amongst high-rise buildings. Some even launching.)
Those indiscriminate BASTARDS!! (This one is awesome). And check out the other vids in the “Related” box.
Do people not understand that Israeli has one of the most accomplished and technically advanced Air Forces in the World? Do they really think that a UAV can’t track a missile leaving a launcher using FLIR and real-time video? Or that the IDF might have a bird or two on station overhead with 1,000 pounders under each wing, waiting for a target to show itself?
Clearly not the brightest folks around…

If you have watched Larry King Live any night in the past week he has had Queen Noor of Jordan on nearly every night and accepts any assertion she makes (whether true or not and some of them are PATENTLY false) without question. This is why I call him the “syncophant-in-chief” at CNN. A pretty woman can say anything she wants without challenge. So how does marriage to an Arab King (no republican he) make her a world affairs expert? Did the former Lisa Halaby study anything besides architecture at Princeton? Did she LEARN ANYTHING when she was growing up in America and attending our public schools?
Apparently not.
Israel kills civilians, civilians kills civians, U.S. bombs kill civilians…same song different day I guess. When a war game is played the innocent always seem to pay the price.
There’s no perfect war, Joe. No way to be so precision and so surgical, short of individual sniper attacks, to ensure that only the “bad guys” get it.
As long as there are evil men, there will be wars to oppose them. The moral highground in this is to do whatever you can to ensure minimum possible collateral deaths.
One would think the understanding would be that eventually, people get tired enough of getting bombed that they start turning in people driving rocket trucks…
“There’s no perfect wars…”
I guess that’s easy to say when it’s not your wife, son, or daughter getting their heads shot off by stray bullets or getting blown to bits by a bomb.
Pop quiz: How many Iraqi civilians have been killed in Bush’s war? How much blood is on our hands?
BTW, the U.S. lost the “moral high ground” a long time ago.
Joe,
I am amazed at how quickly just about any post get’s steered around to Bush bashing.
I personally don’t believe that the war in Iraq was necessary, if it could be considered justified (Saddam clearly supported and enabled terrorism).
We’ve made a lot of (stupid) mistakes in Iraq, and there have been a lot of needless deaths. Many of those have come at the hands of other Muslims. If we can lay the blame for that on the destabilizing effect of overthrowing Saddam, and from there pin responsibility for getting rid of Saddam on the US, then by some sort of algebraic comutative property, those deaths are, I guess, on “our hands.”
Or is it only on the hands of those that voted for Bush?
You’re damn fucking right I blame Bush. We should not be in Iraq. There was no reason for us to invade them. We under no danger from Saddam attacking us. Bush fucked up by going over there and now we are stuck and people, both ours and theirs, are dying daily. The blame, and the blood, lies directly on Bush’s head.
Since you’re military, maybe you can tell me what in the hell is up with some of the shit our troops are doing.

What a piece of shit.
Agree. The dude, this INDIVIDUAL, is clearly mental, shitbird, bottom feeder, etc.
However (comma),
1.4 million American men and women in uniform.
Roughly 120,000 serving in Iraq and Afghanistan at any given time.
119,999 who, by most accounts, haven’t raped or poured gasoline on any little girls.
Just because you put a uniform on someone doesn’t always change their fundamental nature. If he wasn’t in Iraq, he’d be back at home, beating up his wife or raping his cousins.
The vast majority serve notably and honorably, cranky Joe. You seem in such a rush to paint anyone or anything associated with Iraq with the same broad, condemning brush. It is most unsavory, and hardly conducive to reasonable discourse.
The service member usually has no choice about being in Iraq. Those that do volunteer to go, go because they see us doing good things there, not because it’s a fight club.
An individual does NOT equate to “our troops.”
No, not one person, not one incident…there have been many such events in Iraq. If it was a one time deal then I could agree with you. But it seems it every time I look in the news I see shit like this that our troops are doing. Raping and killing innocent people. There are a lot of stories out there about U.S. atrocities in Iraq. It is sickening. But please…don’t that get in the way of your flag waving and talking about how evil Democrats are.
I have never once stated or insinuated that Democrats are evil, but if it helps you sleep at night…
If anyone around here is implying that someone is an evil murderer, starting unnecessary wars…?
I guess my next question, then, is what’s your point? Yes, stupid people doing stupid things. Things that we’ve become all too apathetic about here at home, but because they are put under a microscope in the name of full disclosure over there, we get the full nauseating details of every one.
Which we should. Any service member who commits a crime…of which he or she is found guilty via due process, should suffer the full penalty of law. And they do, and they are.
Are these incidents supposed to somehow be a blanket indictment of the military? We are all a bunch of murdering rapists, Ghengis Kahns one and all?
Or is it that perhaps “we’ve” all become so mentally unhinged by the cognitive dissonance of being forced to fight a war we “know” is wrong, that it has pushed too many poor souls over the edge, and they are acting out in some sort of transference anger, striking out at their evil taskmasters by proxy?
Or, now I know this may sound crazy, but maybe it’s isolated incidents by a few deviants who were wired a little loose to start with?
Guess it just depends on whose flag yer waving, Joe.
If you’ll notice, I’m not defending Pres. Bush; I’m am defending in what way I can the honor of my fellow soldiers and Marines against aspersions cast against their character. And yeah, I’ll wave that flag all damn day and night.
Oh noooo you’ve never bashed Democrats en masse…not you.
I don’t think these are isolated incidents. I think there is more going on over there than we know.
And it’s not just this war. A report was release recently that detailed crimes committed by U.S. troops in Vietnam.
I just wonder how much is being covered up that we will slowly learn about in the future?
I wonder how many people would be alive today had not this piss poor excuse for a president felt the need to show the world how big his balls are (this from a draft dodger no less).
It’s hard to “support the troops” when their presence there is leading to the deaths of many innocent people and some of the troops are no better than Saddam or his sons.
Maybe this country would be better off had it listened to Pres. Eisenhower.
Amazing.
Sorry, not everyone in America bows down to kiss the ass of the military.
