It’s all peace, love and joy over at Protein Wisdom

For those few of you who read this blog, and don’t also read Protein Wisdom, a) I highly recommend you start, and b) you GOTTA check out the bizarre kerfuffle going on over at his place.  A liberal minded free-thinker calling herself “Deb Frisch” has taken it upon herself to lay into Jeff (and conservatives as a species) in the most vile ways imaginable.  This freakshow goes way beyond mere trolling.

There would be those who would dismiss her as “not representative” of mainstream liberalism, or that she’s “just one voice” among many others.  However.  The more often you have to try to discount such vile, bile-spewing haters as “a fringe element,” the more you have to look at just how much “fringe” your demographic has.

I have long held that militant muslims who comprise the insurgent/terrorist/suicide bomber set are not “extremist” muslims, but merely “devout” muslims.  Those who sit on the sidelines are secular or “sunday” muslims. 

By the same token, I suggest that mouthpieces like Deb Frisch are not fringe, or extremist, but rather merely devout liberals who hold the most fervently to their dogma.

For those who seem to call so often for the downtrodden to throw off the oppressive yoke of conservatism (i.e.- anything not party-line liberal), these banshees sure do seem to do a fine job of (inadvertantly) painting themselve as champions of everything dark and angry and….oppressive.  Scary.

UPDATE DEUX:  In way of an update, though the fracas seems to be waning, from what I read of what was posted at Protein Wisdom by Ms. Frisch, she never actually directly threatened Jeff’s child with direct physical harm, though she did make some pretty twisted allusion to sexual abuse of one form or another.  She merely stated that it wouldn’t break her heart if someone else just happened to “Jon Benet” J.G.s child.  It is a subtle but important distinction.  Showing contempt for someone is different than threatening to kill them.  One is called “progressive tolerance,” and the other’s a felony.  Let’s keep the facts straight out there folks, or everybody’s credibility suffers.

UPDATE TRES:

The Captain has a good point about be careful using broad brushes.  Although I would again suggest that as often as you hear caustic gutterwash like this from a self-proclaimed “mainstream” liberal, the more valid the stereotype seems to become.
